The merits of hiring a landscape designer

Hiring a landscape designer is a smart investment decision. Designers trained in the principles of garden design and horticulture can put together a cohesive plan, creating a sense of flow and unity. Professional landscape designers follow fundamental design concepts—proportion, unity, balance, perspective, color and texture—that can bring about a fully integrated design.

A well designed landscape master plan is easy to follow and takes into account the site's unique requirements, including topography, drainage, elevation and slope. This helps avoid costly mistakes and ensures you  get the garden of your dreams. Even if the entire project will take several years to complete, you never lose your place with a master plan as a blueprint for the future. Competent designers will put together plans that can be completed in stages.

Their comprehensive knowledge of plants means the right plant will grow to the right size for the right place in your garden. They are skilled communicators and planners who work with subtrades, retailers, government officials and others to complete successful projects. Professional landscape designers value the natural environment and promote sustainable practices whenever possible. They are inspired by the creative process, by great design and, most of all, by their clients’ needs, wants and dreams.

From spectacular native meadows, to sparkling water features, to sculptural rock gardens and drought tolerant native plantings Urban Habitats Landscape Studio uses exceptional design to pull all elements together.  Our landscape creations are as diverse as our clients and include: French formal, classic English Arts and Crafts,  Japanese Zen and Mediterranean gardens.

Garden Design Tip:

Free standing lattice panels are a great way to block unwanted views without breaking the bank. They look attractive on both sides and can be dressed up with climbing, roses, clematis, honeysuckle or other vines for another layer of screening. These lattice panels are perfectly positioned to screen views of a neighbour's driveway and patio. Nasturtiums, salvia and Dichondra 'Silver Falls' add a festive air.
